Bibby Library Mourns Passing of Mrs. Beatrice Bibby

Beatrice Bibby, wife of the Eastman Institute for Oral Health’s second director Dr. Basil G. Bibby, passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2010 at the age of 101.

Known for her hospitality, Mrs. Bibby would often invite students who were unable to go home during holiday breaks for meals and company. A strong advocate for the Eastman Institute for Oral Health, Mrs. Bibby continued to attend events and offer support long after her husband passed away, in 1998.

Mrs. Bibby was also known for her passion towards local government issues.  She was a long standing member of the League of Women voters where she held several leadership positions.  She also served as president of the University of Rochester Women’s Club.

A long time resident of Pittsford, NY, Beatrice Bibby is survived by her four children Ruth (Frank Helme) Bonn, Anne Lesher, Susan (Thomas Fields) Bibby; son, Douglas (Susan).  A memorial service will be held on Friday April 16 at 2:00 PM, at Twelve Corners Presbyterian Church, 1200 South Winton Rd., Brighton. Memorials may be directed to the Foundation for Citizen Education, c/o Rochester Metro League of Women Voters, 45 Exchange Blvd., Rochester, NY 14614.

    I am so very sorry for your loss. What a Blessing, she lived a very long time and it seems like we get more precious the longer we live. I know you will miss her.

    Your relatives on your dad’s side live a very long time as well; so you better keep working out and living & eating well because you have a long way to go.
