Root Canal Awareness Week

The American Association of Endodontists has designated  March 27-April 2 as Root Canal Awareness Week. This event is a national effort to raise awareness of endodontists and to teach the public that root canals should not be feared.

Dental professionals might be interested in the latest research pertaining to root canals. For example:

* Should a tooth be saved through endodontic therapy, or replaced with a single tooth implant? Take a look at the most recent evidence on this topic.
* Read the latest evidence regarding root canal methods, instrumentation and filling materials.

Celebrate Dental Assistants Recognition Week March 6-12

Bibby Library celebrates Dental Assistants Recognition week.

This event is a joint effort of the American Dental Assistants Association, the American Dental Association, the Canadian Dental Assistants Association and the Canadian Dental Association to acknowledge and recognize the Dental Assistant.

If you are an Eastman Institute for Oral Health Dental Assistant, we hope you’ll stop in to Bibby Library to pick up your free Bibby Library pen and information packet, and even some candy. You will also find a variety of resources and services available to you.

For example, you may wish to look a the following books:

Celebrate Your Prosthodontist

The American College of Prosthodontists has designated the week of March 7-13 as National Prosthodontics Awareness Week.

This event was established to raise public awareness about the importance of a healthy mouth and of replacing missing teeth.

To show our appreciation, Bibby library has prepared gift bags for each of our prosthodontic residents. Stop in this week to get yours!

Celebrate Your Dental Hygienist

October is National Dental Hygienists Month.  This event, sponsored by the American Dental Hygienist’s Association (ADHA), strives to celebrate aspects of dental hygiene—from the dental hygienist to community service.

This year’s theme is “A Healthy Smile Lasts a Lifetime.”  Downloadable posters and promotional materials are available on the ADHA site.

Bibby library has created a brochure for dental hygienists listing our resources and services.  In addition, a list of selected internet resources for dental hygienists is available here.

Drs. Baig and Rotella Present at Scientific Meeting in Canada

Eastman Institute for Oral Health’s prosthodontic residents Mohammed (Bobby)  Baig, B.D.S. and Mario Rotella, D.D.S. have been invited to speak at the 2009 Joint Scientific Meeting of the Canadian Academy of Restorative Dentistry and Prosthodontics, and the Association of Prosthodontists of Canada.

The conference, held September 24-26, 2009, will take place in Montreal, Canada.

The topic of their speech will be Research Based Answers to Some Clinical Questions in Prosthodontics.

September is Craniofacial Acceptance Month

Each September the Children’s Craniofacial Association (CCA) celebrates Craniofacial Acceptance Month. CCA is dedicated to improving the quality of life for people with facial differences and their families.

The CCA webiste includes information for patients and families on craniofacial disorders as well as links to programs, services, networking and more.

June is National Smile Month

Oral Health America, and participating sponsors, have designated June as National Smile Month. This initiative aims to reinforce the  importance of brushing, good nutrition and regular dental visits.
